Family Therapy

There are times when a teenager needs to come into counseling to explore the problems that troubles them. This process helps to guide them to see the pros and cons of the options before them.

However, there are also times when the problems a teenager presents has as much to do with their family system as it does with themselves. Often by meeting with the teenager and their parents, and sometimes the entire family, more skillful decisions of how to resolve the problems can be arrived at more quickly and efficiently, then meeting with the teenager alone.

Teenagers are at a stage in their lives where they are beginning to think for themselves while still relying heavily on the guidance and support of their parents. If parents are well prepared to accept the challenges their growing child presents, problems will be minimized.

Conflicts are inevitable, yet when their parents know themselves well enough to assume a solid and confident position, this stage in development can be an opportunity to grow for both the parents and the child.
